As a boy growing up in Mooresville, Indiana, Craig Haggard never dreamed of running for office. Instead, he dreamed of being a fighter pilot. After graduating from Mooresville High School, he set out to make that dream a reality.
Craig graduated from Hanover College in May of 1991 and that same month was commissioned a 2nd Lieutenant in the United States Marine Corps. Though he was selected for flight school, because every Marine is a rifleman first, he attended The Basic School in Quantico, VA, where he learned how to operate every basic Marine Corps weapon and the foundation of leadership skills that continue to serve him well today.
Haggard finished first in his class in primary flight training and was selected to fly the AV8B Harrier. In 1999, Craig deployed as part of Operation Allied Force and flew combat missions in Kosovo and Serbia while stationed abort the USS Kearsarge in the Adriatic Sea. Craig earned the Air Medal with bronze star device for his service.
After leaving the Marine Corps in 2000, Craig returned home to Indiana permanently and joined the Indiana Air National Guard, where he flew F16s and became the Commander of the Air to Ground Range at Camp Atterbury.
Craig retired from the military as a Lieutenant Colonel in 2013 and returned home to Mooresville as a private citizen where he became a small business owner and later commercial real estate broker.
Craig was hired by the National Rifle Association as the Indiana field representative for the NRA where he led the country in fundraising for six consecutive years in support of the not-for-profit mission and programs vital to protecting our 2nd Amendment rights.
Craig was recently nominated to be a member of the National Board of Directors for the National Rifle Association.
At the invitation of a friend, Craig began volunteering to do humanitarian work in Mexico. For the last 11 years Craig has lead humanitarian missions delivering critical services and relief to the people of Calnali.
Craig and his wife, Brooke, have four children.
In 2022, Craig wanted to do more to ensure his children and future grandchildren could pursue their dreams just as he did. He won a seat in the Indiana House of Representatives and has fought for conservative values at the Statehouse.
