What is Support Local Fest?

Support Local Fest May 2025 is happening for a number of reasons. 

Local Music, Art, and Farmers

1. Like the name suggests, we will be supporting local. Local musicians, local artists, local farmers, and local businesses. We know the importance of small town support to keep the small guy in business and thriving. 

A lot of times, these entities don't have a large marketing budget or department, so they rely on partners and events like Support Local Fest to spread the good word about what the community has to offer. 

The community that we represent is primarily Monrovia, Indiana, but when you visit our event, you will get to meet locals from all over Morgan County and maybe just a few from our neighboring counties. 

Backyard Farm Collective: Fighting Food Insecurity

2. The main reason - We started the Backyard Farm Collective. We know that there is a food shortage in our area. We don't have access to fresh on every corner. We have one store that provides produce for our community, and while it is a lovely little store, we need to do more for our people. 

The food insecurity rates in Morgan County are growing and as a result of important food security funding being cut at the governmental level, as a community, and as a team, we decided to take on this mission ourselves and launch the Backyard Farm Collective. We are awaiting the final confirmation of our 501(c)(3) non-profit status, but we are almost there. 

The very first thing that we are working on is launching The Monrovia Community Garden. This garden will be open for families who wish to grow their own food but also for our organization to grow and supply food to local food banks and our community in need. 

The funds raised at the Support Local Fest will go toward this mission.
